Following many exciting events for team members and the community, a year of celebration of the 20th anniversary of our medical campus comes to a close. As you may recall, to kick off the celebration, sail banners were placed along Hospital Drive, indoor banners were put on display in the hospital mall, and a reception was held where the 20th Anniversary Quilt was introduced. Over the last 12 months, team members were asked to sign the quilt that was created and designed by Sheri Robison and Marla Wheelan.

Dave Lalande has worked with Brandon Meyer and Nathan St. Juliana to install a new search engine on HRHS’s Intranet. There are nearly 4,000 files on the Intranet and finding what you need can sometimes be a daunting task. This new search engine will search keywords in a matter of seconds allowing you to quickly access what you’re looking for.

Betty Louderman has earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati along with an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Louderman passed her Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination from ANCC and now has the credentials of MSN, AGPCNP-BC.

The Professional Practice Team (PPT) wanted to find a way to give back to our community. Their initial community outreach project was to engage HRHS in a Buddy Backpack Blitz that would benefit children in the Hannibal Public School System. HRHS team members rose to the challenge and exceeded expectations! br>

It’s been more than two months since team members participated in the Spirit of Excellence Customer Service Training. Stories abound of team members assisting guests in wheelchairs through the café line, team members putting others first by escorting them to their destinations, and patients commenting on the friendliness of the people who work at HRHS….
br>Two years ago HRHS adopted a small stretch of Highway 36 near our campus. Once a year HRHS gathers a group of team members to clean up the highway medians. The Adopt-a-Highway program is a great chance to help HRHS, our community, and the environment.

Who would have thought that those of us in healthcare would have any worries about violence in the workplace? People being shot or assaulted in large metropolitan areas maybe, but not in small town America. We have evolved into a new world of thought processes about most things, but forget to watch out for ourselves and those around us.
We need to be aware of situations that cause us concern, people displaying violent tendencies, and action requiring the external assistance from Security or Law Enforcement. Our mind set needs to become be aware and be prepared!
