Hannibal Regional is honored to recognize Jessie Griffin, RN, with the distinguished DAISY Award! Jessie is a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit and received multiple nominations for this prestigious recognition. One nomination read: “In life, there are days that are marked by the help of strangers, and these phenomenal moments may only be minutes. As nurses, we see things that are not felt, not understood, nor explained to others, especially our own family members. On December 9th my mother-in-law was intubated in the ED and admitted to the ICU. Although the experience in the ED was remarkable I want to paint the story of the nurse in the ICU who made the biggest impression on me.”
A second letter read: “Jessie took care of an ICU 2-year-old. The little boy was so scared and quickly became attached to her smiling face. She made him feel at home as best as possible. She got a high chair so he could eat lunch with her and she took him for wagon rides. She stayed late to help him fall asleep at the change of shift. She truly went out of her way. By the end of his stay, he was calling her “mommy”!” Thank you, Jessie, for your exceptional work in guiding our patients to BETTER!
