In June 2016 Dr. Kent Wolber received his National Board of Examiners in Optometry, Board Certification. The mission of NBEO – Board Certification is “to recognize & promote professional lifelong learning among practicing optometrists through the joint Board Certification and Maintenance of Certification programs; thereby encouraging & supporting excellent optometric care for the general health, welfare, & benefit of the public.” This program acknowledges the importance of developing and maintaining optometric knowledge and the importance to keep up with technology that provides the highest quality of vision and eye care to patients.
Dr. Wolber demonstrated his commitment to professional lifelong learning in optometry when he took this 4-hour exam. He received time to study with the outline the NBEO-BC gave him and now, after passing his exam, is working on maintenance of the board certification with self-assessment and practicing modules. These were given to physicians based on their exam scores and are to be completed in a two-year time frame. Physicians retake the test every seven years.
