Things are moving along rapidly with the expansion project! For the most up-to-date information check out the new website we have which is dedicated to all things related to the project. Work continues on the receiving dock and support area expansion which will increase the size of the receiving dock, add additional space for staging of deliveries and equipment, provide space for linen processing, storage, relocation of dumpsters / compactors and add an IT work / staging area. The work in this area should be completed in late November. The two new parking lots will be completed near the end of October if weather permits. There is a small addition being constructed by the north entrance of the medical building – this will be a temporary main entry to the medical building while the four-story medical building is being constructed. This entry will provide a covered drop-off and pick-up point for patients, and provide walk-in access from the north parking lot which will serve as the location for all patient vehicle parking. The temporary entry should be completed by the end of October at which time the existing main entrance will be closed. At this point our Guest Services will provide assistance at our new entrance and help patients find their destination. Construction fencing will be erected in late October to secure access to the construction site, then the site will be prepared, foundations will be poured and steel erection of the building skeleton will begin. The new medical building is scheduled to be completed in early 2019.
To pave the way for construction of the new Medical Building, various support departments in the business section of the hospital had to be temporarily relocated. The IT Department and Business Development group were relocated to the Hwy 61 building in space adjacent to the Free Clinic. The Finance and Patient Account Departments will be located at leased space in the Hwy 36 Complex just to the East of Fiddlestiks. Clinic Billing was relocated to a building that HRHS leases on St. Mary’s Avenue. There have been a small number of IT team members that have remained on campus to assist with daily operational needs. Things can be confusing as departments get moved around, so thanks to everyone for helping us in this time of growth which will greatly benefit our community, patients, and team!
And finally, mark your calendars for the official groundbreaking of our new construction! Join us Tuesday, October 24 at 10:00 at the main hospital entrance as we break ground and celebrate the future of healthcare in our region.
