Hannibal Regional team members have the opportunity to be recognized on the spot for living out our RISE Values and offering excellent customer service! The Golden Star recognition program is in addition to the quarterly RISEing Star winners. Golden stars are given to various spotters each week. The spotters could be other team members, patients, visitors, vendors, or physicians, and they are on the lookout for team members who offer exceptional customer service and live out our RISE Values. If they spot someone they believe deserves the star, the spotter will present it to the team member, who can then present their star to HR to receive a prize. Spotters will be in different departments and shifts throughout the year.
Elisabeth Cory, Med Surg – Elisabeth noticed that people were turning computer screens to face the wall so the light would not be in the patient’s face but also not the whole unit. When doing this, it was not always being turned back in the right direction which in turn pulls on the cords which can be costly to replace. She inquired about long-term solutions, and in the mean time took the initiative to put a black screen saver on every ortho computer which kicks in after one minute. Thanks to Elisabeth for being on the lookout for ways to improves our processes!
Trey Culp, ER – An agitated mental health patient was in the ER. Trey Culp remembered from previous experience that this patient likes Twizzlers. Trey went and bought Twizzlers with his own money and gave them to the patient and she immediately became more calm. Kudos to Trey for being such a caring team member who considered the patient’s individual preferences!
Jennifer Moss, Pediatrics – Jennifer’s nominator wrote: “I work at HRMG in the pediatric department, and today we learned that we will not be able to get bili blankets for babies locally anymore. That would mean re-admission for patients because Women’s Care has the only bili blankets at this time. We found this out when we learned of an outpatient needing a bili blanket. The charge nurse on our floor, Jennifer Moss called a facility she found on the internet to see if they could help. She found out that this medical supply store (out of Jefferson City) would service the Hannibal area and set it up so that we could call them. She also called Women’s Care Unit to let them know. That in itself is going above and beyond for patients, but then she called Hannibal Clinic and spoke with a nurse in the peds department and shared this information with them. Jennifer could have left it at notifying the pertinent people in our facility but she took it a step further and called the clinic. I feel that she really went above and beyond with the patient being number one.” Thank you, Jennifer, for going above and beyond in guiding our patient’s to BETTER!
Ellen Taylor, Infusion Center – The person who nominated Ellen for a Golden Star stated: “I would like to recognize Ellen Taylor and the team in Infusion. The team demonstrates the RISE (service) value by taking outpatients during surge times, which enhances patient satisfaction and continuity of care. Thanks to Ellen and her team!!!
