Internal medicine providers, or internists, focus on adult medicine for patients ages 18 and older. At least three of their seven or more years of medical school and postgraduate training are dedicated to focused education on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect adults. “I noticed how the action of a passionate and responsible physician can change the outcome and destiny of a family and their community. That was the time that I decided and promised to myself to be part of this great task and make it my priority mission in life,” said Dr. Hassan when asked why he wanted to become a physician.
Internists are equipped to diagnose and provide treatment options for a full spectrum of illnesses — no matter how common or rare, simple or complex. They are specially trained to solve puzzling diagnostic problems and have been trained to handle severe chronic illnesses and situations where several different illnesses may be present at the same time. “One of things I enjoy about being a physician is the relationship I get to develop with my patients” notes Dr. Mathew Strasser. “By listening to and working with my patients, we are able to determine the best path for them on their journey to better health.”
