On November 1st, the Missouri Health Insurance Marketplace opened to consumers who want to access quality, affordable, health coverage options to protect their health and the health of those they love. It’s not just the law, getting covered is important to help people live their best life.
Hannibal Regional, part of the Cover Missouri coalition, is working to educate Missourians on rules and the options available through the Missouri Health Insurance Marketplace. Selecting the right plan can be confusing to many people. Hannibal Regional can help community members find the right plan for their healthcare needs and budget. “We know health insurance is hard. It can be confusing to anyone – even those with experience being covered. We want to let uninsured Missourians know that, free of charge, we are here to help guide them through the process of choosing the right plan, finding financial help and getting covered.” notes Kristina Janicke, Health and Wellness Coordinator with Hannibal Regional.
This year the most significant change is the shortened period to get signed up – going from three months last year to just six weeks this year. Enrollment began November 1 and will end December 15, so it’s important for consumers who need assistance to call for an appointment as spots are filling quickly.
Last year, over 244,000 Missourians got covered – and more than 80 percent of them qualified for financial help. But there are additional Missouri residents who need coverage and may not know they can get it. All plans offered in the Marketplace cover 10 essential healthcare services, such as medicines, hospital stays and doctor visits – and all include a free yearly check-up.
