Hannibal Regional Healthcare System has a Record Retention policy in place. It is a General Administrative Policy (GA 1-118) and can be found on the Intranet (under policies tab) for easy viewing.
Having this policy in place is an important Compliance requirement in order to give team members guidance when determining if an important document should be kept or not, and if so, how long it should be kept. This policy is also important to ensure availability of documents, to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and to provide for the timely disposal of documents once the applicable retention period expires. If there is the anticipation of, or current involvement in, any investigation, audit, or legal claim the document(s) must not be destroyed.
