My Heart Nearly Killed Me

Luckily for him, the skilled Nurse Practitioners at Express Care detected a heart murmur and urged Clinton to follow up with a cardiologist at Hannibal Regional Medical Group.

“The persistence and concern of the Nurse Practitioners at Express Care saved my life,” says Clinton.

At just 33, Clinton was married with a two-year-old daughter. He wasn’t expecting to be diagnosed with aortic valve stenosis, a narrowing of the heart’s aortic valve that can obstruct blood flow from the heart to the rest of the body.

To celebrate heart month and raise awareness for heart disease, Hannibal Regional Hospital Mall is the site of a Heart Health Fair on February 27th, 2015 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm.

Team members are encouraged to participate in the Heart Fair where there will be  heart healthy cooking demonstrations, mini massages, and informational booths.  There will also be free screenings for community members only.  If you are a team member and you are concerned about your heart health, contact Team Health at 248-5184 or your Primary Care Physician.

Heart Health Fair

On February 28th Hannibal Regional Healthcare System teamed up with the Hannibal Clinic to host a Heart Health Fair. The Heart Health Fair was held at Hannibal Regional Hospital and had a variety of informational booths available. Attendees were able to sample heart healthy snacks, see what happens during a cardiac cath and much more! Community members were offered free heart health screenings, and 96 individuals took advantage of the offering! Offering health fairs such as this is just one way we continue to live our mission.
