What’s New with the Hannibal Cannibal

Plans for the 22nd Annual Hannibal Cannibal are well under way.  This year’s race will be Saturday, July 1st.  The 2017 Cannibal Captains are already working towards making this another great year and we have several exciting new things for you!

As in 2016, the Foundation will offer a special shirt just for team members.  To receive the team member shirt, registrations must be received by Monday, May 12th.  This year’s shirt will be a sapphire blue performance tee featuring the 2017 Hannibal Cannibal logo.  T-shirts may be worn every Friday in June.  Registration cost for team members is $15 and must be completed on a Team Member Registration form – it cannot be done online to receive the discounted price and special Hannibal Regional shirt.  The team member discount will be available until June 28th after which the price will increase to $35.

In conjunction with the Wellness Committee, the Foundation is excited to announce that this year you will be able to count your participation in the Hannibal Cannibal as an Alternative Activity to receive a retro payment of the wellness incentive.  In order for it to count, you must register as a runner (don’t worry, you can still walk!) so you receive a time chip race bib which will track your completion of the event.  Be sure to use the Team Member Registration Form and mark the Wellness Program box.

Also new this year, the Foundation is in the process of developing a Hannibal Cannibal app for your mobile device!  This app will feature: interactive maps; leaderboard and participant search; live tracking that will allow you to track up to 25 athletes; and will allow for push notifications to be sent with all the latest race news plus much, much more.  Be sure to follow the Cannibal on Facebook at Hannibal Cannibal for the latest updates on the app’s availability.

Robin Doyle, Entertainment Captain for the race, has been busy lining up various groups along the race route.  Already confirmed for this year are the Hannibal High School Glitter Girls and Cheerleaders.  In addition, this year, local band Steppin’ Back will be performing at the starting area of the race from 6:30 am to 8:30 am and will perform the National Anthem.  They will be a great addition to get the crowd pumped up before the race!
